About
Zoe Barber is a consultant with a specialist interest in oncoplastic breast surgery at Nuffield Health Vale Hospital. She was awarded the Phebe Todd scholarship to study medicine at the University of Oxford and graduated in 2009. Zoe undertook her surgical training in Oxford, the South West of England, and Wales. In 2019, she received the ASGBI Gold Medal for the best performance in the FRCS examination.
As an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Authority, Zoe regularly teaches as an Associate Clinical Tutor for Cardiff University and as an Advanced Trauma Life Support Instructor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England. She holds an MA in Medical Sciences from the University of Oxford and has published in numerous medical journals. Additionally, Zoe has presented nationally and internationally and has been awarded prizes for her research.
After having an eclamptic seizure following the birth of her twins resulting in her driving licence being revoked for 6 months, she undertook a systematic review and meta-analysis of seizure recurrence following eclampsia and presented her findings to the DVLA. As a result, the national guidance was changed, preventing other eclamptic women from having their driving licence revoked in the future.
In her personal life, Zoe is a keen runner and represented the University of Oxford in athletics, cross country, and cycling. She won the National Duathlon Championships and was selected to represent Great Britain in the World Duathlon Championships while at medical school. Nowadays, she spends most of her running time pushing her twins in a double-running buggy. She lives in the Vale of Glamorgan with her husband, who is also a surgeon, and their twin daughters.

I had a great experience with Dr Barber. She was understanding, straight to the point and prioritised my comfortability the entire time. She explained everything easily and I knew exactly what I was going in for in the surgery and I knew the recovery timeline which helped me to feel more comfortable and safe going in.

The best consultation I have ever had in any field of medicine was with Zoe Barber. She put me at total ease, was empathetic and incredibly professional. From my very first consultation with Zoe I felt in a safe place due to her kind and caring support. This was very comforting to me at a particular vulnerable time, having been diagnosed with breast cancer Zoe always demonstrated a high degree of professionalism, and is clearly very knowledgeable in her field, providing me with all the relevant information and facts to enable me to make any decisions. This was always conducted in a compassionate and empathetic manner, and always quick to respond to any follow up questions I raised after my appointments Zoe carried out both my operations and was on hand before and after, this made me feel reassured. I cannot believe how good my mastectomy and reconstruction looks aesthetically All my appointments have never felt rushed and I really feel I have been given the time to be heard and understood through out the process, and treated very respectfully. At any time I have had a need to be seen due to a concern Zoe has always accommodated me very quickly The words 'Thank You' will never express how grateful and lucky I am to have Zoe as my consultant, including her team.
