About Dr Yvonne West
Dr Yvonne West is a Consultant in Respiratory and General Medicine with broad expertise in respiratory conditions including asthma, chronic cough, respiratory infections and pneumonia, bronchiectasis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), and thromboembolic disease. She has a subspecialist interest in sarcoidosis and interstitial lung diseases, including pulmonary fibrosis and autoimmune-related lung disease.
She qualified from Guy’s, King’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in 2002, where she also completed an integrated BSc in Immunology. She undertook her specialist respiratory and general medical training in London and Oxford, and later paused clinical training to complete doctoral research in pulmonary fibrosis and sarcoidosis. For this work, she was awarded a DPhil in Clinical Medicine from University of Oxford (Worcester College).
She was appointed Consultant in Respiratory Medicine and Interstitial Lung Disease at Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust in 2024, having previously worked as a Consultant at the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust since 2017, where she also served as clinical lead for interstitial lung disease services.

Dr West’s thinking was very focused with clear explanations. Even Decided to discuss my case with her colleagues for extra information.
Dr West was excellent and was clear on tests needed and possible outcomes. Took time to take medical history and understand symptoms.
Dr Yvonne West is extremely knowledgeable and really listens and understands, sympathetic and offers solutions to get to the bottom of the problem. I feel very comfortable with Dr Yvonne West, extremely friendly and supportive of the health issues.
Dr West is very approachable and friendly. She listened and answered questions and always followed up with a very professional letter to my gp explaining the consultation. This was done really quickly and it so helpful to have a written reference for the future. Seeing her at the Spire Hospital was preferable for me, rather than Oxford due to distance and parking. I have an on-going condition and it is reassuring to know I can see her when needed.
I had a consultation with Dr West who was very clear with her advice and diagnosis, as well as next steps to take. She was very understanding and patient with my questions.
