Dr William Gallagher

Dr William Gallagher is a Consultant Urologist who provides comprehensive diagnostic assessments and surgical care for a wide range of urological conditions. He maintains a clinical focus spanning general urology, paediatric urology, stone disease, laparoscopic and robotic renal surgery, and men's health issues. Dr Gallagher is committed to delivering patient-centred, high-quality care, ensuring individuals receive clear guidance, reassuring support, and treatment plans tailored to their specific healthcare needs.

In his clinical practice, Dr Gallagher diagnoses and manages conditions affecting the kidneys, bladder, prostate, and male reproductive organs. He offers expertise in modern diagnostic procedures, including local anaesthetic transperineal prostate (LATP) biopsy, which provides improved accuracy and reduced infection risks for prostate assessments. His therapeutic expertise includes stone management techniques such as ureteroscopy and laser lithotripsy, transurethral surgery for bladder and prostate disorders, cystoscopy, and urodynamics. He also performs surgical procedures for benign penile and scrotal conditions, including circumcision, hydrocele repair, epididymal cyst removal, and vasectomy.

Dr Gallagher completed his medical training at the Peninsula School of Medicine and Dentistry, qualifying in 2011 following initial studies at Trinity College Dublin. He undertook surgical training in London before completing higher specialist urology training in the South West, which included dedicated sub-specialty experience in robotic renal surgery. He was awarded a Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Leadership and Management from Exeter University in 2019 and attained Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS Urol) in 2021. Dr Gallagher holds active professional memberships with the British Association of Urological Surgeons and the British Medical Association.
