Mr Adel Makar

Mr Adel Makar is a Consultant Urological Surgeon with extensive experience in urological oncology and reconstructive urology. He has been practising as a consultant since 2002 and has developed a broad clinical and leadership profile within cancer services and complex urological surgery.

He completed his Higher Surgical Training in Urology on the South East Thames rotation, including a Clinical Lectureship at King’s College Hospital, followed by a specialist uro-oncology fellowship at The Christie Hospital, one of the UK’s leading cancer centres.

His clinical expertise focuses on urological cancers, including prostate, bladder and kidney cancer, with advanced surgical interests in reconstructive urology such as neo-bladder formation, complex bladder and ureteric reconstruction, and partial nephrectomy. He also manages a wide range of benign urological conditions, including benign prostatic disease, stone disease, and inguinoscrotal conditions such as hydroceles, varicoceles, hernias, vasectomy and vasectomy reversal. His practice also includes men’s health, including erectile dysfunction, and urinary fistula repair.

Alongside his clinical work, Mr Makar has held several senior leadership roles. He has served as Chair and Deputy Chair of the Urology Expert Advisory Group for the West Midlands Cancer Alliance, Lead Cancer Clinician and Associate Medical Director at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust, and Urological Cancer Lead since 2002. He also contributes to national training and education as faculty for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, delivering reconstructive and operative urology courses, and lectures at specialist urology institutions.

He is actively involved in research, peer review for urological journals and national cancer registry programmes, and serves as President of the Worcestershire Prostate Cancer Support Group.
