Vishwanath Hanchanale is a consultant urological and robotic surgeon at Royal Liverpool University Teaching hospital. He is involved in several national and international urology/simulation organisations. He is the course course director for the National ST3 Urology Simulation Course.
He routinely manage patients with lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), prostate problems including elevated PSA blood test and haematuria (blood in pee), erectile dysfunction, bladder dysfunction, renal stones, penile and testicular disorders.
Hanchanale provides a wide range of endoscopic, open and robotic procedures including circumcision, cystoscopy, excision of scrotal lumps, urinary stone and prostate surgery (TURP). His special interests include managing prostate, bladder, testicular and complex pelvic cancer patients (pelvic oncology).
He obtained primary medical qualification and post-graduate surgical training in India. After completing his initial urological training around Liverpool and two-years research in Merseyside, he moved to Leeds for specialist urological and robotic surgery training.
Furthermore, to enhance my robotic skills, he completed ERUS robotic training with Prof Mottrie in Belgium and undertook a clinical visit to Cornell University, New York.
He has published and presented extensively in international urology journals and conferences and am currently continuing my audit and research activity by becoming involved in ongoing projects.
I am a keen teacher and currently hold honorary lecture post at the University of Liverpool School of Medicine.
