Vishal Kanji

Vishal Kanji is a Specialist Physiotherapist with extensive experience across both clinical practice and elite sport. He trained within the NHS, completing a broad rotational programme that included spinal cord injuries, chronic pain, hypermobility and Ehlers–Danlos syndrome, musculoskeletal outpatients, intensive care, orthopaedics and hand therapy. 

Alongside his NHS work, Vishal has developed a substantial career in professional sport. He has been part of the medical team at Arsenal Football Club and has held senior physiotherapy roles within county cricket, including leading medical provision for Middlesex County Cricket Academy, working as squad physiotherapist for the professional team, and serving as Head of Physiotherapy at Essex County Cricket. He has also worked as a consultant for Brentford FC, with a focus on spinal injuries and complex return-to-play planning.

Vishal has a particular clinical interest in lumbar spine stress fractures in athletes and the management of accelerated return-to-sport pathways. His clinical practice emphasises movement control, progressive loading and the application of high-performance principles for both professional and recreational athletes. He regularly supports individuals through late-stage rehabilitation and the transition back to competitive sport, with a focus on restoring function, reducing re-injury risk and supporting long-term performance.
