Dr Vikas Gupta

Dr. Vikas Gupta is a Consultant Paediatrician with a special interest in Allergy and Nephrology. He provides care for children presenting with a wide spectrum of general paediatric issues, both in acute and outpatient settings. Dr. Gupta accepts referrals from GPs, dietitians, self-referrals (with follow-up GP letters), and other consultant colleagues and specialists.

Dr. Gupta began his paediatric training in India and continued his advanced training in Leeds, Yorkshire. He has been a Consultant Paediatrician at Hull Royal Infirmary for over seven years, where he also serves as the lead for paediatric allergy. He runs a highly active NHS practice, handling more than 1,200 paediatric allergy cases annually, offering comprehensive secondary care for allergic diseases in the Hull area.

In his allergy practice, Dr. Gupta sees children with various common allergic conditions. An allergy consultation includes a thorough history to identify the causative allergens, whether food or air-borne, and associated atopic conditions. Allergy testing is usually conducted using skin prick testing during the consultation, and in some cases, allergy blood tests may be required. He provides detailed management plans post-diagnosis and offers training on the use of adrenaline auto-injectors and nasal sprays for managing allergic rhinitis.

Additionally, Dr. Gupta treats children with a range of kidney-related conditions, including recurrent urinary tract infections, pyelonephritis, glomerulonephritis, polycystic and dysplastic kidneys, nephrotic syndrome, kidney injuries, and hypertension. His expertise ensures comprehensive care for children dealing with both allergic and nephrological issues.
