Professor Vassilis Hadjianastassiou is a highly regarded Consultant Vascular, General & Transplant Surgeon practicing in London. He brings extensive expertise to the field, with a particular focus on the management of varicose veins, the diagnosis and management of deep vein thrombosis, carotid surgery to prevent stroke and complex kidney transplantation. He is well-versed in complex laparoscopic surgeries, including hernia repairs, cholecystectomies, nephrectomies and adrenalectomies and he actively trains surgical trainees in these techniques.
He graduated from the University of Oxford Medical School in 1997, where he also completed a doctoral thesis in 2007 (abdominal aortic aneurysm risk stratification). He became a Fellow in General Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2007. His specialised surgical training took place within the Oxford and London Deaneries, leading to dual General Medical Council (GMC) accreditation in both Vascular surgery and General surgery.
Professor Hadjianastassiou held (2017-2023) the position of Treasurer in the Executive Council of the Division of Transplantation at the European Board of Surgery (UEMS). He was inaugurated as Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus in 2013. He has actively participated as an editorial reviewer for peer-reviewed journals and a well published author in the scientific literature.
He currently sees private patients at London Bridge Hospital (HCA UK at The Shard) and The London Clinic. His NHS practice is at Barts Health NHS Trust.

Vassilis helped with my varicose veins and performed an ablation of the GSV of both legs. Recovery took 1-2 weeks. He also my overall health care, offering more holistic care. Vassilis has broad general knowledge of medicine and gave good advice and recommendations.
