Mr Ramkuar explained in detail what my operation would involve, pre op and post op conversations were clear, and everything about my procedure was made clear to me,
I was very well informed of everything that was going to happen , Mr Ramkmar was very reassuring and made me feel at ease , I have a very small incision which is down to his skill and my hip is working really well with minimum discomfort 8 weeks in but none of the arthritic pain i had before , just minimum recovery discomfort. Excellent service.
Had both my hips replaced last year by Mr Ramkumar, he was very reassuring and made me feel at ease even on the day of both my operations. All of my appointments were on time, he explained everything clearly before and after the operations. On the whole I had an excellent experience with Mr Ramkumar and all the staff at the rivers
I met Mr Ramkumar for the first time in October 2025, after years of suffering with arthritis in both knees. I'd been asking my GP to refer me to an Orthopedic consultant for a number of years, but had been refused due to my age. After 2 years of steroid injections in my right knee and recently starting with them in my left knee, I begged for a referral. I was able to book the appointment via the NHS app and opted for Rivers due to the short waiting lists and the availability of an initial appointment the next week. My first appointment at Rivers took no more than an hour, including an x-ray on both knees, to see the extent of the damage. My right knee was bone on bone and Mr Ramkumar commented on my bowed leg and permanent limp, he showed me the x-ray and said he'd put me on his waiting list for a total knee replacement. He confirmed the left knee, was not as bad as the right and would hold out for a few more years. I asked him if I should think about it and he said it was a no brainer and asked me why I'd come to see him - I said 'a new knee!' and he said he'd see me on surgery day! I was surprised to hear it could be as early as Jan/Feb 2026 and even more surprised when Rivers called me a few weeks later to ask if 6th January was ok! I was very nervous because I know recovery from TKR can be tough and because despite the pain , you do have to push through and keep mobile so the knee doesn't stiffen and further surgery may be needed. However, Rivers prepare you well and Joint School was very helpful. Mr Ramkumar came to see me the morning of surgery, which was much app...
Read moreI met with Mr Ramkumar some months ago and he explained very clearly my options to solve my knee pain issue, after consultation we both agreed that a full knee replacement surgery would be the best solution. On my next visit I spoke to the nursing staff and they explained the preparation required, on the day Mr Ramkumar met with me to explain the procedure and he followed this up with another meeting the following day to check that I was okay, I found the whole experience very straightforward and professional and would recommend him to anyone looking to have knee surgery.
I could not have had a better experience. From start to finish the attention was comforting and reassuring. Timescale from assessment to operation was short and excellent after care. Very successful outcome on full hip replacement. Gave life back.
My overall experience has been really positive. Mr Ramkumar is very easy to talk to and understands patients needs very well with empathy and realistic treatments. After the initial struggles after surgery I am now very impressed with my knee and feel happy with the overall outcome. I can now do things I haven’t been able to do for years. Thank you for giving me my life back pain free and now I’m looking forward to the future
I had a left hip replacement in February 24 with Mr Ramkumar and then my right hip January 26 with Mr Ramkumar. He is an excellent surgeon and always listen to me and he explains everything so well. He always has time to listen and is a very caring person with excellent communication. I would recommend him and if I will need a knee replacement in the future I would only go to Mr Ramkumar.
I cannot thank Mr Ramkumar enough from our first meeting I was put at ease and my injury then procedure explained fully. All of my questions were answered fully and without judgement!
Mr Ramkumar put me at easy and made the whole experience calm whilst informative. He was very professional and friendly and explained everything patiently and thoroughly. He was very upbeat and positive and I felt in very good hands.
