About Mr Tommy Chan
Mr Tommy Chan holds dual substantive NHS appointments as a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon at both Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Derbyshire Community Health Services NHS Foundation Trust. He was awarded his fellowship in 2017 which has taken him abroad on externships to both Europe and Asia gaining a wealth of experience and techniques in foot and ankle surgery. As a Specialist Registrar he has developed significant expertise in minimally invasive surgery and high risk limb salvage surgery which is complimented with his proficiency in the use of ultrasound.
He attained his Certificate of Completion of Podiatric Surgical Training in 2021. to date as a Consultant Tommy believes in life long learning and continues to develop and refine his surgical techniques. Tommy is an elected faculty committee member and more recently in 2023 took up the position as the Regional chair of the Northern Deanery Faculty of Podiatric Surgery, UK. He is an external faculty instructor with the vascular society for Great Britain and Ireland cultivating the next generation in the management of the diabetic foot. To date he is a regular visiting lecturer with the University of Huddersfield on both the Masters programmes for Podiatric Surgery and is also a registered surgical tutor. Tommy offers private treatment in the areas of Derbyshire, Nottingham, Rotherham and Doncaster.

I was provided with a very comprehensive explanation of all procedures/ alternatives/ possible consequences and was fully involved with the decision making process. Throughout the procedure I was kept informed of progress and my questions were answered appropriately. I was made to feel comfortable and respected in every sense, not only by Mr Chan but his entire team. Everyone was extremely professional but equally friendly and engaging which helps enormously in potentially stressful situations.
My visit was for my 12 week post surgery check. After X-ray my consultant explained everything to me thoroughly and answered all questions I had

Having struggled with various foot problems I saw Mr Chan at Ilkeston Hospital and found him to be extremely knowledgeable, friendly and he listened to my concerns and he explained honestly what he could and couldn't do in a way that I was able to understand. Prior to surgery he explained again what he was going to do and I felt safe and cared for. The surgery went well and he came to check on me after the surgery prior to going home. My experience has been very positive and I would recommend Mr Chan.
The surgery itself was quick and reliable, the doctors were amazing and talked you through the procedure how to stay calm, and gave you everything you needed, I was given some tablets to help me calm down to settle my nerves, over all the visits so far have been helpful and successful with a fantastic improvement better than expected surgery, unbelievable.
Although I was apprehensive about the procedure, Mr Chan explained the procedure very well and all in all as good an experience as could be wished for. First rate and filled with confidence.
Mr Chan is a most professional and well mannered person and as a patient, made me feel at completely at ease. He spent a great deal of time explaining the procedure and answered any questions I asked. A most likable and approachable doctor.
Amazing from start to finish, Mr Chan came to see me as soon as I got on the ward and kept me informed the whole time. Thank you so much
