Dr Timothy Cartlidge

Dr Timothy Cartlidge is a highly accomplished Consultant Cardiologist who specialises in interventional cardiology and the management of complex heart conditions. With a reassuring and patient-centred approach, he is dedicated to delivering high-quality, evidence-based care to individuals experiencing cardiovascular issues. His clinical practice focuses on diagnosing and treating coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, and aortic stenosis, ensuring that patients receive tailored treatment plans that support their long-term health and well-being.

As a Consultant Cardiologist with expertise in interventional procedures, Dr Cartlidge performs percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) and transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI). He is particularly interested in advanced cardiac imaging techniques, such as contrast-enhanced computed tomography and positron emission tomography (PET-CT), which he utilises to assess valve degeneration and guide precise clinical interventions. His commitment to clinical excellence is reflected in his active involvement in pioneering cardiovascular research, which aims to improve patient outcomes and refine modern techniques in coronary revascularisation and angioplasty.

Dr Cartlidge completed his medical training at the University of Edinburgh, graduating with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB) in 2009, alongside a Bachelor's degree in human physiology. He went on to obtain his Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) of Edinburgh in 2011. Driven by a passion for clinical innovation, he also completed a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Edinburgh, focusing on advanced imaging techniques for detecting bioprosthetic valve degeneration. Dr Cartlidge is an active member of several prestigious professional bodies, including the British Cardiovascular Society and the European Society of Cardiology.
