Dr Thomas Medveczky

Dr Thomas Medveczky is a highly experienced and accomplished consultant with a focus on respiratory medicine, general and lifestyle medicine.

With over 20 years of experience, he has provided exceptional care to patients facing complex respiratory and general/internal medicine conditions. Dr. Medveczky’s expertise is in the diagnosis and treatment of Asthma, COPD, Long-COVID, and Breathlessness.

He has led a specialist Airways Disease Service, looking after difficult-to-treat patients with asthma, COPD, and breathlessness. The service saw over 1000+ patients per year, offering a wide range of diagnostics with modern radiology, endoscopy, and multidisciplinary support for the patients. He has also worked at one of the world’s leading heart and lung centres and undoubtedly Britain’s most famous lung hospital - the Royal Brompton Hospital in London.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Medveczky combines the experience of work in large teaching and University centres as well as local general hospitals, offering a breadth of knowledge and experience of respiratory and medical conditions.

He was one of the first Consultants in the country to treat COVID patients. He led the pandemic response in his hospital, treating hundreds of severe cases at the frontline on the wards and high dependency care, acquiring extensive clinical experience in the management of acute COVID infection and post-COVID respiratory complications.

Having lived in many countries, Dr. Medveczky has experienced medical practice in Poland and Germany and speaks fluent German, Polish, and is comfortable in Russian.

Consultations can be both face-to-face in a state-of-the-art hospital facility in Brighton or via video from the comfort of your own home - anywhere in the world. Breathing tests such as spirometry and FeNO are done in the clinic, conveniently during the consultation.

As a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and the European Federation of Internal Medicine, Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at Imperial College London, and former Advisor to the British Thoracic Society, Dr Medveczky combines academic expertise and the ability to explain conditions in all areas of respiratory and internal medicine, in a clear, understandable way. He holds academic degrees from prestigious universities in Berlin and London
