Dr Thomas Bochmann

Dr Thomas Bochmann is a highly skilled Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in trauma and orthopaedic surgery, with a dedicated focus on hand and wrist conditions. He is committed to delivering patient-centred care, prioritising education and patient choice to ensure individuals are fully informed about their treatment options. Dr Bochmann advocates for the least invasive and lowest-risk procedures possible, tailoring his clinical approach to meet the unique needs and recovery goals of each patient.

With extensive expertise in hand and wrist surgery, Dr Bochmann offers a comprehensive range of advanced treatments. His clinical interests include orthopaedic trauma, arthritis, Dupuytren's disease, nerve entrapment syndromes, and tendon disorders. He is highly proficient in modern surgical techniques, such as wide awake local anaesthetic no tourniquet (WALANT) surgery, wrist arthroscopy, and denervation procedures designed to provide pain relief without causing structural or joint damage. Additionally, he performs complex joint replacements of the fingers, thumb, and wrist, including pioneering Motec wrist replacement surgery.

Dr Bochmann completed his medical education at Southampton University, graduating with a Bachelor of Medical Science in 2011 and a Bachelor of Medicine in 2012. He undertook his general orthopaedic surgical training across Yorkshire and the East of England. He became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2016 and was awarded his Fellowship in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2022. To further refine his skills, he completed a prestigious, nationally appointed Ortho-Plastic Hand Surgery Fellowship, as well as serving as a Hand Surgery Fellow in Malawi. Dr Bochmann is an active member of several professional organisations, including the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the British Orthopaedic Association, and the British Society for Surgery of the Hand.
