Dr Tejal Mitchell

Dr Tejal Mitchell is a dedicated Consultant Neurologist who provides compassionate and comprehensive care for patients with a wide array of neurological conditions. Serving as a Clinical Lead for epilepsy services, she plays an active role in shaping strategic care pathways that connect primary care, community health services, and tertiary specialist units. Dr Mitchell is deeply committed to delivering patient-centred management that supports individuals from initial diagnosis through to long-term care planning.

Her primary clinical expertise focuses on seizure disorders, including complex epilepsy and functional (non-epileptic or dissociative) seizures. Dr Mitchell specialises in anti-epileptic medication management, clinical electroencephalography (EEG) interpretation, and patient safety protocols. She is particularly passionate about establishing effective transition pathways for adolescents and young people moving from paediatric healthcare teams into adult neurology services, ensuring uninterrupted support during pivotal life stages.

Dr Mitchell completed her undergraduate medical training at Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, qualifying in 1994. She went on to gain a PhD in Neurological Studies from the University of London in 2004, investigating quantitative neuroimaging in cerebral developmental disorders and epilepsy, before completing advanced fellowship training in Clinical EEG and Epilepsy. A Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP), Dr Mitchell holds professional memberships with the Association of British Neurologists (ABN), serving on its Epilepsy Advisory Group, as well as the Eastern Paediatric Epilepsy Network and Royal College of Physicians steering groups.
