Miss Sundas Maqsood

Miss Sundas Maqsood is a dedicated Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeon who specialises in corneal and anterior segment conditions. She offers comprehensive diagnostic and therapeutic care for a wide spectrum of ocular disorders, ranging from routine vision correction needs to complex, inflammatory external eye diseases. Combining up-to-date evidence-based clinical practice with a thoughtful, personalised approach, Miss Maqsood prioritises patient comfort and clear communication to ensure every individual feels listened to and fully supported throughout their treatment.

Her clinical work encompasses the management of conditions such as cataracts, ocular surface disease, keratoconus, Fuchs' dystrophy, blepharitis, dry eye, and persistent corneal epithelial defects. She has expertise in delicate surgical procedures, including corneal transplantation, complex cataract extraction, laser eye surgery, refractive lens exchange, implantable contact lenses, and sutureless amniotic membrane grafting for severe ocular surface inflammation. Beyond direct clinical care, Miss Maqsood actively engages in research, service development, and eye banking initiatives aimed at improving surgical safety and enhancing patient outcomes.

Miss Maqsood earned her medical degree, a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (BMBS), from King Edward Medical University. She subsequently completed her ophthalmic specialist training within the Kent, Sussex and Surrey Deanery, followed by advanced sub-specialty fellowships in ocular surface disease, cornea, and external eye diseases. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (FRCOphth), holds the Certificate in Laser and Refractive Surgery (CertLRS) from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists, and is a member of the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgery (ESCRS).
