About Mr Avi Kulkarni
Mr Avi Kulkarni is a consultant ophthalmologist based at the London Clinic and King's College Hospital, where he is the lead glaucoma consultant. He specialises in glaucoma and cataract surgery as well as general opthalmology and eye emergencies. Mr Kulkarni performs minimally invasive glaucoma surgery such as Istent implant as well as trabeculectomy, Baerveldt and Ahmed shunts, and Preserflo microshunt. His laser treatments for glaucoma include selective laser trabeculoplasty, laser iridoplasty, laser iridotomy and cyclodiode laser.
Following his graduation in 1995 from the University of London, Mr Kulkarni undertook clinical glaucoma fellowships at King's College & St Thomas' Hospitals and Moorfields Eye Hospital where he gained expertise in the management of glaucoma and complex glaucoma-related cataract surgery. He worked at a number of prestigious hospitals in London before being appointed at King's College Hospital in 2009.
Mr Kulkarni is passionate about medical education and currently mentors and trains medical students, optometrists, and junior ophthalmologists.

Mr Kulkarni explained what he was doing and would be doing at every stage of my consultation. I found him to be very knowledgeable about my situation and went through clearly what he proposed, as well as any potential risks. He put me at ease and I found his manner very amenable.
Mr. Kulkarni has been my eye specialist for a great many years. Originally I went to him because I had some pain in one eye and had some laser treatment for that and it was cured. Later I was operated on for cataract and the miracle of not having to wear glasses all the time only for reading has been wonderful. I return annually or more often. Recently after a fall on my face I had my eyes checked just in case.
I have been seeing Mr kulkarni for some time.He has seen me through difficult times with my eyes and I can't thank him enough for what he has done for me..His kindness care and patience have been constant.Long may it continue.
