About Mr stephen Hewitt

Mr Stephen Hewitt is a Consultant Podiatric Surgeon in foot and ankle surgery. He provides specialist operative and non-operative treatments of various conditions of the lower limb, foot and ankle. Mr Hewitt utilises the latest digital radiography, CT, MRI and Dynamic Ultrasound. In concert with colleagues, he also uses electromyography and nerve conduction studies if required.

Mr Stephen Hewitt is an NHS Consultant Podiatric Surgeon, who has been providing health care provision for over 25 years, gaining extensive experience in Foot and Ankle surgery, whilst working in the Great Western Hospital Swindon and The West Middlesex University hospital London, which culminated in being awarded the Osteotec scholarship extending his scope of surgical practice at the Kaiser Permanente hospital in San Francisco and orthopaedic colleagues in Lübeck Germany; Al Hada military hospital Saudi Arabia; Nij Smellighe hospital in Holland. These were invaluable experiences gaining significant exposure in both conservative treatments and complex foot and ankle surgery, which underpins his practice today. Stephen has been awarded Fellowship of the Faculty of Podiatric Medicine within the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, for his continued contribution to the profession.

Stephen undertakes foot & ankle procedures, which are performed on a day case basis under either local or general anaesthetic. Also, in patient stay can be arranged if required. With a strong passion for progression Stephen is committed providing the best care possible and in line with best practice guidelines all surgical procedures are audited using validated patient reported outcome measures (PROMS). Recent independent Family & Friends (FFT) confirmed a 100% response with very good or good which culminated in Stephen being nominated as a finalist within the health service journal 2025 awards. Other independent audits have demonstrated high patient satisfaction rates of 94.4% for a variety of common foot & ankle procedures and highly recommended within a 360* appraisal.

Stephen continues to lecture at both international and national conferences and has authored a number of articles in peer reviewed international surgical journals. His undergraduate thesis, in the management & treatment of lower limb injuries in professional football players, saw him attend Arsenal and Crystal Palace football clubs and the original national training centre at Lilleshall Shropshire. His Master of Science thesis identified certain underlying medical health & smoking disorders had an enormous impact on increasing bone healing times & non-union rates.
