Dr Shivani Dewan

Dr Shivani Dewan is an accomplished Consultant Endocrinologist and Specialist in Diabetes and General Medicine. Serving in senior leadership as a Clinical Director and Clinical Lead within the NHS, she works to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care for individuals with endocrine conditions, metabolic disorders, and chronic illness. Dr Dewan takes a compassionate and reassuring approach, collaborating closely with patients to create individualised treatment plans that empower them to effectively manage their health.

Her clinical practice covers a comprehensive range of conditions within endocrinology and diabetes care. Dr Dewan holds expertise in managing adult diabetes, gestational diabetes in antenatal clinics, and supporting young adults as they move from paediatric to adult care through dedicated transition services. She has sub-specialty interests in bariatric medicine, weight management, lipid disorders such as familial hyperlipidaemia, and advanced diabetes technology, including insulin pump therapy. Additionally, she plays an active role in multidisciplinary diabetic foot care and local diabetic eye screening programmes aimed at protecting long-term patient health.

Dr Dewan completed her primary medical education, earning her medical degree (MBBS/MBChB or equivalent), followed by comprehensive postgraduate training in general internal medicine, diabetes, and endocrinology. She achieved Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) and maintains full registration with the General Medical Council. Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Dewan is actively involved in medical education and clinical research, serving in educational leadership roles to train the next generation of resident medical staff and junior doctors.
