Miss Sheweidin Aziz is a highly accomplished Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon who specialises in the diagnosis, assessment, and management of a comprehensive range of spinal conditions. Her clinical practice encompasses both common degenerative disorders and complex spinal pathologies, with a particular focus on providing personalised, evidence-based care. Miss Aziz is dedicated to tailoring treatment plans to the unique needs, goals, and lifestyles of her patients, utilising both surgical and non-surgical interventions to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Her extensive clinical expertise includes the management of neck and back pain, sciatica, lumbar spinal stenosis, lumbar spondylolisthesis, and lumbar disc herniation. Miss Aziz also specialises in treating complex conditions such as cervical and thoracic myelopathy, cervical radiculopathy, metastatic spinal disease, cauda equina syndrome, spinal trauma, spinal infections, and adolescent idiopathic scoliosis. She is highly skilled in performing advanced surgical procedures, including lumbar microdiscectomy, decompression surgery, cervical and lumbar spinal fusion, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion, revision spinal surgery, and vertebral fracture stabilisation. Additionally, she offers non-operative treatments, such as image-guided spinal injections, as part of a comprehensive multidisciplinary approach.
Miss Aziz obtained her primary medical qualification, a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery with Honours, in 2008. She went on to complete her postgraduate surgical training, earning her Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2015 and her Fellowship of the Royal Colleges of Surgeons in Trauma and Orthopaedics in 2020. She was selected for the prestigious Spinal Training Interface Group Fellowship in the United Kingdom, gaining extensive experience in paediatric deformity, spinal trauma, and degenerative conditions, and subsequently completed an advanced spinal fellowship at a leading neurosciences centre. Miss Aziz is an active member of several professional organisations, including the British Association of Spine Surgeons, the Royal College of Surgeons of England, the British Medical Association, EuroSpine, and AO Spine.
In addition to her clinical work, Miss Aziz is deeply committed to medical education, research, and clinical governance. She serves as an Audit Lead for a trauma and orthopaedics department, actively contributing to service development and patient safety. Her dedication to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical students has been recognised with an Outstanding Clinical Teacher Award from a prominent medical school.
