Mr Scott McCain is an experienced consultant general surgeon who specialises in gastrointestinal surgery at the Ulster Independent Clinic and Kingsbridge Private Hospital in Belfast. He has practising privileges at the Ulster Independent Clinic and Kingsbridge Hospital Belfast (Maypole Clinic Holywood).
He has extensive experience and training in complex upper gastrointestinal surgery for cancer and benign disease, hepatobiliary surgery, and weight loss surgery (bariatric surgery).
In addition to his training in Northern Ireland, he also completed a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic surgery in Sydney, Australia. Since then, he has continued to develop his skills in laparoscopic surgery for procedures such as hernia repair, gallstone removal, hiatus hernia repair, anti-reflux surgery, and weight loss surgery.
Outside of the hospital, he enjoys spending time with his family and his dog. He also enjoys hillwalking, cycling, and skiing

Mr Mc Cain explained everything in detail He left no stone under turned and he instilled a sense of ease in me that made me totally confident and had no worries with regards to the operation. Mr McCain changed my life and for this i will be eternally grateful.

I have an inpatient under the care of Mr McCain in both NHS and private sector. I had a severe Hiatus Hernia and was in the Ulster Hospital in September 2022. The treatment i received was exemplary with everything explained in detail in a way i could understand. I also had a left side Inguinal Hernia and had been on the NHS waiting list for over 5 years. This had become quite pronounced and painful so as a member of Benenden I contacted Mr McCain and had the procedure carried out at Kingsbridge private hospital. In both procedures I was treated kindly, everything explained in layman's terms and felt completely at ease. I can't speak highly enough of my experience with Mr McCain and how my quality of life has improved (i am almost 85!) If stars are required I give it 5.

Excellent, exceptional and outstanding. The care I received from Mr McCain made me feel totally at ease with my pending procedure. The procedure itself was carried out successfully even though I knew I had a massive stone in my gallbladder.
