From the initial consultation, Mr Miakhil explained the procedure and outcome and put me at ease. I have been totally satisfied with the whole experience and am now enjoying a life free from catheters and concern.

The HoLEP was a pain free operation that made me feel like a new man within just a few weeks of surgery. I can fully recommend this operation for others with an enlarged prostate as it is quick, pain free and allows very rapid recovery.

From start to finish Mr Miakhil was exceptional. Within a month of seeing Mr Miakhil and then my operation I have gone from years of discomfort to relief and feeling normal. Thank you.

I am incredibly grateful to the Trust, but especially to Mr Miakhil for his professionalism and humanity in dealing with complications arising from my diagnosis of a prostatic adenocarcinoma. The planned radiotherapy had to be aborted due to potential complications arising from a hypertrophic prostate (bph). The swelling caused by the radiotherapy risked occluding the urethra further, with the potential of acute urinary obstruction. Mr Miakhil promptly organised a HoLEP, which he conducted with incredible skill, allowing me to go forward for the radiotherapy to hopefully destroy the cancerous cells in my prostate. Throughout the process Mr Miakhil was all that one could ask for in a consultant: courteous, concerned, clear and concise in all of his explanations and communications, and, given the lack of complications I have had both inta- and post operatively, (given the incidence of those reported in the literature) quite clearly an exceptional surgeon. Such abilities, I would suggest, are not only beneficent for the patient, but are also beneficent for the trust as such a level of ability would reasonably be predicted to reduce costs to the Trust by reducing post surgical complication rates. Apart from my thanks to Mr Miakhil and his team, I must thank the trust for investing in the advanced equipment that Mr Miakhil uses for his surgery, and that has enabled me to make such an excellent recovery, and hence proceed so quickly to the treatment for my prostatic cancer.

Saw Mr Miakhil as post op consultation. He first asked me to explain how my recovery was going. He then gave biopsy results as well as going over operation.

Follow up to a life changing op. A few years ago I had a TURP having been self catheterising for a couple of years. My prostate was so big it made little difference and I was back using catheters within months. The cost of nearly 7 years of catheters must be rather large! My bladder capacity was only about 300ml due to my prolapsed prostate. I could only sleep for a few hours at a time. Could only travel from loo to loo! Etc etc. I was put on the waiting list for a Holep. A few years ago I got a kidney stone stuck in my ureter. Last year I had two failed operations under GA to remove it. Both failed because my prostate was too big. In December 25 I got sepsis, rushed to hospital, and had a nephrostomy. Finally in January I got my Holep. My life transformed. In March another op to remove the stone was successful. The money wasted whilst I waited for the Holep that I needed was huge, May I suggest the trust gets a bigger better machine or even ends up with two! Money saved and many lives made better and facilities freed up by not having wasted ops!
