Dr Sancy Low is a comprehensive Ophthalmologist, Cataract and Refractive Surgeon who performs over 500 cataract (lens replacement) and laser vision correction procedures each year. She offers premium toric intraocular lens implants and utilises state-of-the-art laser technologies, including SMILE and Presbyond, to help patients achieve greater independence from glasses and contact lenses.
In addition to her refractive and cataract expertise, Dr Low is a Glaucoma Specialist with a PhD in Molecular Genetics. Her research background enhances her clinical approach, particularly in the early detection and management of complex eye conditions. In 2020, she completed a landmark publication from her doctoral research identifying the first gene known to cause primary angle closure glaucoma — a condition that can be effectively treated with laser or cataract surgery when diagnosed early.
Dr Low runs a welcoming, family-friendly practice and understands how important clear vision is to quality of life. She provides personalised care tailored to each individual’s needs, combining extensive ophthalmic and medical knowledge with a reassuring, patient-centred approach to reduce anxiety and support informed decision-making.
A passionate educator, Dr Low is one of the lead clinicians supporting optometrists in South East London who provide community-based care for minor eye conditions. She is committed to reducing the impact of sight loss through education programmes for patients, optometrists, medical students and junior doctors.
She is an active contributor to academic ophthalmology, serving as a peer reviewer for leading journals including Molecular Vision, the British Journal of Ophthalmology, Eye, and Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science. She has authored three medical textbook chapters and published more than 20 peer-reviewed papers in the field of ophthalmology.

The overall experience was beyond compare. Dr Low and her team were brilliant. I cannot rate them too highly.
Very good indeed from the initial consultation advising on the options available, the operation and the post-op consultation. Very satisfied with the procedure and result and would highly recommend Dr Sancy and her team.
Dr Low is meticulous, hollistic and thinks creatively. I have complex health issues and she is comfortably the best doctor I have ever seen and has created the most positive change in my healthcare
Dr Low is outstanding in her profession. She helped me realise my ADHD stimulant-medication was actually worsening the eye condition i had previously, since starting it. She suggested non-stimulant medication instead and my ADHD consultant agreed after a couple of emails from Dr Low. I'm 3 months on non stimulant meds and my eyes have improved i avoided a second Lazer eye surgery. I am so grateful for the superb level of Care.
The overall experience was fine. I attended with my disabled brother. We were seen fairly promptly and drops put in. We then had to wait quite some time before we saw the consultant. She was very clear about the next stage in his treatment.
I was very happy with my eye surgery with Dr Low and her team.
From consultation to surgery and after care including the new lenses to be used everything was clearly explained. During the cataract surgery on both eyes I did not feel any pain or discomfort and Dr Low saw that I was calm and relaxed and I breathed as she instructed. The follow up after a week showed surgery was a great success and I am now able to read and write without glasses.
I worked with Ms Low at St Thomas' Hospital. She is an excellent surgeon who keeps patient's care at heart of her practice with excellent communication and honesty. I highly recommend her and would be happy for her to treat my friends and family.
