Dr Saira Khalique

Dr Saira Khalique is an experienced Consultant Medical Oncologist who specialises in the diagnosis and non-surgical management of gynaecological cancers and head and neck malignancies. Dedicated to delivering compassionate, patient-centred care, she collaborates closely with multidisciplinary teams to formulate individualised treatment strategies tailored to each patient's specific needs. Her clinical practice encompasses a broad range of systemic anti-cancer therapies, including conventional chemotherapy, targeted biological therapies, and modern immunotherapy.

In addition to her clinical practice, Dr Khalique is actively engaged in cancer research and academic medicine. She serves as a research lead for head and neck oncology clinical trials and participates in national clinical study groups focused on gynaecological cancers. Her research contributions centre on identifying novel therapeutic strategies, evaluating targeted therapies, and bringing innovative treatments from clinical trials into standard clinical practice. She also holds an academic appointment as an Honorary Senior Lecturer, helping to educate and train the next generation of medical specialists.

Dr Khalique completed her medical education at the University of St Andrews and the University of Manchester, obtaining her Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery qualifications. She undertook extensive specialist clinical training in medical oncology and earned a Doctor of Philosophy from the Institute of Cancer Research, where her doctoral research focused on novel therapeutic strategies for ovarian cancer. She holds Membership of the Royal College of Physicians in Medical Oncology and is a member of the Royal College of Physicians, the Association of Cancer Physicians, and the European Society for Medical Oncology.
