Dr Romila Bahl is a fully qualified Sports & Exercise Medicine physician. She trained formally in Sports & Exercise Medicine after working for 10 years as a Consultant in Emergency Medicine and Major Trauma. She runs a Regional Paediatric and Adolescent Sports Medicine Service and works for the Faculty of Sports Medicine in promoting physical activity.
Romila has worked with Olympic, Paralympic and Military athletes as well as all levels of recreational and club athletes. She is an expert in the diagnosis and rehabilitation of acute and chronic musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions and helping those with MSK related pain. Romila offers a comprehensive MSK health assessment and uses her extensive medical knowledge to individualise a plan that fits into the lifestyle and requirements of her patients. Her goals are to keep people doing the activities and sports they love.
Dr Bahl has first hand experience of being injured herself and working through injury and medical conditions disrupting the sporting goals of her teenage children. She knows the frustration and wants to help patients minimise impact whilst working towards a realistic recovery. She is keen to listen and knows how impactful musculoskeletal injuries and pain can be and how important it is to get the right diagnosis and right plan.

I have a long running back problem caused by a pro-lapsed disc. I have noticed recent deterioration in strength and mobility and wanted to understand what I could do to mitigate this. Dr Bahl’s investigations and recommendations have been clear and helpful and I now need to implement them.

I had the best sports specialist appointment with Dr Romila, I am an ex athlete but still try to maintain a similar exercise routine, however, have recently had problems with back, knees, calves, Achilles and soles of my feet. I have needed to find someone that understands me from an athlete perspective and is able to help me across all my numerous problems. She was absolutely lovely and understanding and really made me feel like we had a game plan for my recovery. I look forward to working with her further, thrilled to have come across her. Highly recommend Dr Romila, especially for any athletes or Individuals with numerous issues and not quite sure where to start.
I had a really positive experience at Pure sports. Dr Romila Bahl was incredibly knowledgeable, attentive, and took the time to properly listen to my concerns about my back pain. I felt genuinely cared for throughout the appointment. I also really appreciated how comfortable and at ease she made me feel. As a woman, it was reassuring to speak openly with a female doctor who was both compassionate and professional.
