Dr. Robin Chung

Dr Robin Chung is a friendly and approachable consultant cardiologist with broad general cardiology experience and a sub-specialty expertise in cardiac imaging, including CT coronary angiography and advanced echocardiography. He has internationally accredited expertise in cardio-oncology, or heart problems in cancer patients.

Dr Chung studied computer engineering and medicine at Berkeley, Warwick and Cambridge and University College London. He completed general medical training in the London Northwest Thames deanery as an acclaimed academic foundation programme trainee, before continuing as one of only two NIHR cardiology academic clinical fellows in London in his cohort year.

Robin was trained personally in transthoracic echocardiography by the legendary Dr Derek G Gibson in his eponymous echocardiography department at the Royal Brompton Hospital and in advanced echocardiography at Barts Heart Centre. He completed his clinical cardiology training in the London North Central Thames deanery across the Royal Free, University College London, Barts and the Royal London hospitals, with an NHS base at the Whittington and honorary consultant at Barts Heart Centre and University College London Hospitals.

Dr Chung was involved in the establishment of cardio-oncology services at University College London and Barts Heart Centre - one of the largest in the UK – and continues this network service for the Whittington Hospital area cancer patients. He is available for consultations for private cardiology patients in West London and Harley Street.

Dr Chung is a British Heart Foundation (BHF) ambassador who enjoys medical education. He has further clinical trials expertise in the design, recruitment, and ethics and regulatory submission for cardio-oncology as well as rare orphan disease studies in adults and children as the research chair for the Prader-Willi Syndrome Association UK across six international multi-centre randomised clinical trials. He has nearly 50 research publications including 29 co-authored journal papers. He is a former associate editor at Open Heart and was the first UK engineer to work for Shazam, the music recognition app. He is available to consult for his clinical trials expertise and corporate / VC due diligence.
