About

Richard specialises in treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, developmental trauma disorder and other trauma-related conditions, as well as phobias, panic attacks, addiction relapse, stress, chronic pain and chronic anxiety.

Richard is an EMDR Europe Accredited Practitioner and accredited Federation of Drug and Alcohol Practitioners (FDAP) member. He is an accredited member of the EMDR Association of UK and Ireland. He trained in Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP) with Devon Ashwood at Action on Addiction's Centre for Addiction Treatment Studies and has been running MBRP groups since 2013

He offers a range of innovative, integrated treatments including eye movement, desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR), mindfulness practice, bodywork, and biofeedback. In cases where drugs and talk therapy have not been fully effective, he offers proven alternatives and a way to reclaim lives.

Development of personal resilience and self-regulation is at the centre of his work. He aims to assist and encourage clients in recognising the importance of self-care and personal practice, leading to greater emotional self-regulation and the capacity to tolerate the ups and downs, frustrations and setbacks that inevitably occur.

His ethos is, above all, patient-centered and inclusive. He works with clients in various formats: one-on-one, online, via home visits, during intensive weekend programs and in small assessment groups.

Richard's intensive EMDR weekend programs, offer a combination of several EMDR sessions, trauma-focused mindfulness exercises and trauma-focused bodywork with an emphasis on stability, grounding and, where possible, positive resource activation. Intensives are bespoke programs based on client need and may include a whole range of treatment modalities including nutrition, macrobiotic testing, genetic testing and neuro feedback.

Four-week 'introduction to mindfulness' courses focus on addiction and depression issues and include core meditation, bodywork and personal awareness, emphasising acceptance of present experience, the gradual application of home practice and introduction of self-care, support and lifestyle balance.
