Dr Ramzi Ajjan

Dr Ramzi Ajjan is a highly accomplished Consultant Diabetologist, Consultant Endocrinologist, and Professor of Metabolic Medicine who is dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centred care. He specialises in the management of complex metabolic and endocrine disorders, with a particular focus on young adults with type 1 diabetes and individuals with complex type 2 diabetes. Dr Ajjan is committed to helping patients navigate their conditions with confidence, offering tailored treatment strategies that focus on optimising glycaemic control and improving overall quality of life.

In addition to general diabetes care, Dr Ajjan has a strong clinical interest in adolescent diabetes and the management of thyroid eye disease. He is also deeply committed to cardiovascular risk reduction in patients with diabetes, working closely with individuals to manage and mitigate the long-term vascular complications associated with metabolic conditions. His clinical approach combines the latest evidence-based therapies with a reassuring and supportive manner, ensuring that patients feel fully informed and empowered throughout their healthcare journey.

Dr Ajjan completed his Doctor of Medicine (MD) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at the University of Sheffield, where he developed a strong foundation in both clinical medicine and metabolic research. He subsequently completed his specialist clinical training in diabetes and endocrinology. Dr Ajjan holds a Master of Medical Science (MMedSci) and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP). He is an active member of several prestigious professional organisations, including Diabetes UK, the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD), the British Thyroid Foundation (BTF), and the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH).
