Dr. Raheel Syyed

Dr. Raheel Syyed is a Consultant Respiratory Physician and a medical graduate from the University of Glasgow. His early medical training took place in hospitals throughout the West of Scotland, followed by specialist respiratory training in the South Thames region, which included posts at notable institutions such as King's College Hospital and St. Thomas's Hospital. In 2008, Dr. Syyed completed his Doctorate in Medicine (MD) at the University of Glasgow with a thesis on "Studies of the Pulmonary Circulation in Man: Pressure & Flow Relationships," during which he developed the "Syyed Equation" for mean pulmonary pressure. The following year, he was awarded fellowship in the Royal College of Physicians.

Dr. Syyed has served as a consultant at University Hospital Monklands within NHS Lanarkshire since 2008. His clinical expertise spans a broad range of respiratory conditions, including airway diseases (asthma, COPD, bronchiectasis), pleural diseases, lung cancer, and interstitial lung disease.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Syyed is dedicated to medical education, actively teaching and examining students from Glasgow School of Medicine and serving as an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. He also contributes to the UK PACES examination board. His professional memberships include the British Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society, and the Royal College of Physicians in Glasgow.
