Mr Radwan Almousa MD, FRCOphth, CertLRS
Mr Radwan Almousa is a highly trained anterior segment surgeon with specialist expertise in corneal disease, refractive surgery, and eyelid (oculoplastic) surgery.
He completed an advanced oculoplastic fellowship in Singapore at the internationally renowned National University Hospital, gaining extensive experience in eyelid and peri-ocular surgery. He then returned to the UK to undertake further specialist training in corneal and refractive surgery at Queen Victoria Hospital, one of the leading centres for eye care in the country.
Through this broad and rigorous training, Mr Almousa developed a strong passion for treating diseases of the front of the eye, with a particular focus on applying the latest evidence-based treatments to improve visual quality and relieve discomfort that can significantly affect patients’ daily lives. He is currently a part-time Consultant in Corneal and Oculoplastic Surgery at Great Western Hospital, where he provides specialist NHS care.
During the later years of his training, Mr Almousa focused on refining his expertise in ptosis surgery, including the management of congenital ptosis, as well as mastering upper and lower eyelid blepharoplasty techniques. His approach combines precision, safety, and a strong appreciation of both functional and aesthetic outcomes.
Since his appointment to his current NHS consultant post, Mr Almousa has introduced several advanced surgical procedures to the department, including DMEK and DALK corneal grafts, expanding treatment options for patients with corneal disease. He was also among the early adopters in London of SMILE laser refractive surgery, offering patients a minimally invasive procedure with rapid recovery and minimal discomfort.
Mr Almousa has extensive experience in the management of keratoconus and established the Keratoconus Pathway at My-iClinic, ensuring structured, personalised care for affected patients. He was the first surgeon in the UK to introduce CAIRS (Corneal Allograft Intrastromal Ring Segments) and FLI (Femtosecond Lenticule Implantation) procedures, significantly expanding treatment options for patients with keratoconus and helping improve visual outcomes where traditional treatments may be limited.
Mr Almousa contributed to the ophthalmic knowledge, and he published 18 articles in peer-reviewed journals covering different aspects of cornea and oculoplastic disease. Also he presented his work in various international meeting worldwide.

Mr. Almousa was very patient and took great care of me before, on and after my laser eye surgery. He explained very well in details. I have a great result from SMILE surgery with no complication of dry eyes. Thank you so much Mr. Almousa for your treatment and care.

He was professional and friendly and very clear

I am very happy that you were happy with your consultation
Mr Almousa explained everything to me before and after. He was extremely kind

I am happy I was able to help
Mr Radwan was absolutely amazing. He phoned me first to discuss the whole process when I enquired. It was great to talk directly to the man who would do the surgery. The payment process and online system to check on dates and things was excellent. The receptionist who kept in contact with me throughout was lovely. The date of the surgery, I met Mr Radwan that morning and he was so reassuring and kind. Such a lovely manner. The surgery itself went perfectly and everyone there was amazing. I couldn’t recommend Mr Radwan more. He even kept in contact afterwards when I needed a form to prove I had the eye surgery for my new role. Absolutely amazing service.
I had SMILE surgery with Mr. Almousa a year ago and couldn’t be happier with the experience. He clearly explained the procedure in detail and followed up with me regularly, which made me feel completely at ease and in safe hands. The outcome has been excellent — no dryness or discomfort at all. I was able to return to work the very next day and am now free from glasses. Highly recommend!
Despite my trepidations regarding my condition, mr Armousa and his assistant put me at ease and ensured that the process was not stressful. Fully explained the situation and I left with a huge relief and very grateful for the experience.
I would like to recommend Mr. Almousa as an excellent ophthalmologist who possesses a wealth of knowledge in the field of eye surgery. His compassionate approach to patient care and surgical skills are highly commendable.
