Mr Pulkit Sethi

Mr Pulkit Sethi is a Consultant Hepatobiliary and General Surgeon specialising in hepatobiliary surgery, minimally invasive laparoscopic and robot-assisted surgery, and general surgery. His clinical interests include benign and malignant liver disease, colorectal liver metastases, complex biliary and gallbladder disease, gallstones, and groin and abdominal wall hernias. He also performs surgery for skin lesions, including the excision of skin cancers.

Mr Sethi completed his general surgical training in 2014 before completing subspecialty training in gastrointestinal surgery in 2017, during which he received a University Gold Medal and University Proficiency Award. His subsequent specialist training included fellowships in transplant and complex hepatobiliary surgery at Cambridge University Hospitals, complex liver resection at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, and hepatobiliary and transplant surgery at Oxford University Hospitals. During his Oxford fellowship, he served as an NHSBT-recognised National Organ Retrieval Service Lead Surgeon.

Mr Sethi has extensive experience in liver, gallbladder and hernia surgery, including open, laparoscopic and robot-assisted techniques. He has performed more than 500 liver resections, including over 100 minimally invasive liver resections, as well as more than 1,100 cholecystectomies and over 100 robot-assisted hepatobiliary procedures. He has also contributed to the development and advancement of robotic hepatobiliary surgery.

Mr Sethi is a GMC-accredited educational and clinical supervisor and has contributed to clinical audit and quality improvement. His research includes peer-reviewed publications in hepatobiliary surgery, liver transplantation, colorectal liver metastases and surgical planning. His work has also included the development of a pathway for elective liver cancer surgery during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was published in the British Journal of Surgery.
