Professor Tim Illidge

Timothy Illidge is a Professor of Targeted Therapy and Oncology at the University of Manchester and Honorary Consultant in Clinical Oncology at Christie Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

After graduating in Biochemistry (BSc) at London University, he completed his medical training (MB BS) at Guy's Hospital Medical School, London and was awarded a PhD from the University of Southampton. He completed a Cancer Research UK (CRUK) fellowship and was appointed Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in Oncology at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust in 1999. He was awarded another fellowship in 1998 at Stanford University in California, working as part of the lymphoma team. In 2004, Professor Illidge moved his CRUK research group to Manchester Institute and The Christie.

Professor Illidge is known internationally for his research into lymphoma and has been published extensively. He has been the principal investigator for many early phase and late clinical trials and is a member of the central steering group of the NCRI lymphoma group. He also leads a CRUK and Leukaemia & Lymphoma Research funded translational research group, which take new approaches in the treatment of lymphoma from the bench to bedside. He is one of the medical experts for the Lymphoma Association and CRUK, and is regularly invited to speak at international workshops in lymphoma.
