Professor Anthony Mathur

Prof Anthony Mathur is a Consultant Cardiologist and Director of Cardiology at Barts Health NHS Trust. He qualified in Medical Sciences from Cambridge University and trained in Cardiology. He obtained his PhD from University College London studying stem cells biology and heart disease.

Prof Mathur sees patients with all general cardiological conditions. He specialises in interventional cardiology and the treatment of chest pain.

Prof Mathur is actively involved in clinical research. He runs an extensive research programme to develop new treatments for patients with heart disease including stem cell research programme (to repair damaged hearts) and a novel stent development programme (to develop the blockages that cause heart attacks). Prof Mathur has published extensively in the most prestigious cardiology journals and lectures nationally and internationally.
