Mr Prateek Agarwal

Dr Prateek Agarwal is a Consultant Ophthalmologist specialising in Cataract Surgery and Laser Refractive Surgery. He currently practices in both the NHS at The Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and in the private sector at Optegra Eye Hospital Manchester.

Dr Agarwal attained his MBBS degree at Tamil Nadu Dr MGR Medical University, India in 2006. Shortly after he undertook a Master of Surgery Degree in Ophthalmology at Aravind Eye Hospital with the Postgraduate Institute of Ophthalmology, India and graduated in 2009. After qualifying he completed a Senior Residency in Cornea, Cataract and Refractive services at the Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education & Research in 2009. Following this, Dr Agarwal completed a Fellowship with the International Council of Ophthalmology at University Hospital Bern, Switzerland in 2011.

He first assumed the role of Consultant Ophthalmologist in 2011 at Nayan Eye Care and Laser Centre in India where he practiced for 5 years. He later moved to the UAE and practiced as a Specialist Ophthalmologist at Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi until August of 2020. After leaving Cleveland Clinic, Dr Agarwal moved to the UK and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow and a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists. He was appointed as a Consultant at the Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust in 2020.

Dr Agarwal's current clinical practice focuses on the treatment of a range of eye conditions, including age-related macular degeneration, cataracts, conjunctivitis and corneal diseases. He has specialist expertise in all aspects of laser refractive surgery, cataract surgery and corneal transplantation.
