Dr Peter Winocour

 Dr. Winocour is a consultant physician to the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust, appointed in 1993, and was Clinical Director for Diabetes and Endocrine services from 2008 until 2021. He qualified in 1979, and received his M.D. degree from the University
of Glasgow, and undertook further training in Manchester and Newcastle. He is a past Chairman of the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD), and past chair of the Royal College of Physicians of London Joint Speciality Committee in Diabetes and
Endocrinology and ABCD Lead on Renal Disease. Dr. Winocour’s research interest in diabetes and endocrinology has resulted in publication of over 100 original articles. Current main clinical interests are in diabetes and cardiovascular and kidney disease, and transitional and young adult care of type 1 diabetes. He is a national expert
in the field of diabetes and kidney disease and has lectured on this subject in
the UK and abroad, and led a national group developing guidelines for clinical
management. He co-authored a chapter on diabetes for the new edition of the Oxford Textbook of Endocrinology and Diabetes. He is an expert adviser for diabetes to the DVLA. He is a consultant endocrinologist with over 30 years specialist experience in the management of diabetes and general medicine.
