Mr Peter Asaad

Mr Peter Asaad is a Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon with more than 17 years of NHS experience, practising in the North West of England. He specialises in the diagnosis and surgical management of colorectal and bowel conditions, including colorectal cancer, alongside common general surgical problems such as hernias and gallbladder disease. His clinical practice encompasses elective and emergency surgery, advanced laparoscopic techniques and the management of benign anorectal conditions. In addition to his NHS and private practice, he undertakes medico-legal work as an expert witness, with a particular focus on clinical negligence.

Mr Asaad’s clinical expertise includes colorectal cancer surgery, advanced keyhole colorectal surgery, general and emergency abdominal surgery, and the management of benign colorectal and anorectal conditions. His areas of interest include haemorrhoids, anal fissures, anal fistulas, pilonidal disease, gallstones, inguinal and abdominal wall hernias, abdominal pain, rectal bleeding and changes in bowel habits. He also performs diagnostic investigations, including colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy, and offers a range of surgical and non-surgical treatments tailored to the underlying condition. 

Mr Asaad works as an NHS Consultant General and Colorectal Surgeon at Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, where his clinical responsibilities include complex colorectal procedures, major cancer resections and emergency abdominal surgery. He also provides private consultations and surgical care through Nuffield Health Chester The Grosvenor Hospital and his private practice, See My Surgeon. Alongside his clinical work, he contributes to surgical research and holds senior NHS leadership and educational responsibilities. His published research includes work on colorectal surgical outcomes, appendicitis, gallbladder disease and peri-operative care. He also provides independent medico-legal opinions in general and colorectal surgery.
