Dr Penelope Salt

Dr Penelope Salt is a Consultant Paediatrician who provides expert, compassionate care for infants, children, and young people managing a broad range of general paediatric conditions. With a patient-centred approach, she is dedicated to supporting families through accurate clinical diagnosis, holistic management, and ongoing care. Her practice combines extensive experience in general childhood illness with specialised focus areas in allergic conditions and respiratory health.

In her clinical practice, Dr Salt has developed significant expertise in paediatric allergy and asthma management, as well as level 1 and level 2 paediatric critical care. Her work in paediatric allergy encompasses the diagnosis and treatment of immediate and delayed food allergies, aeroallergens, pet allergies, rhinology, and chronic urticaria. She works within multidisciplinary teams to provide diagnostic evaluations, including skin prick tests, specific IgE blood testing, and supervised food challenge procedures, alongside individualised emergency action plans. Dr Salt also places a strong emphasis on adolescent health, helping young people smoothly transition their management plans as they grow into early adulthood.

Dr Salt completed her initial medical degree in South Africa prior to undertaking post-graduate specialist paediatric training across London and Oxford. She was appointed as a Consultant Paediatrician in 2006. Alongside her clinical duties, she has held leadership roles in outpatient quality improvement programmes and participated in research focused on improving medication adherence and outcomes for children with asthma.
