Mr Paul MacKenzie is a Consultant Surgeon specialising in general surgery and upper gastrointestinal (GI) surgery. He is based at the University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust and also practises privately at Goring Hall Hospital, part of Circle Health Group.

He graduated in medicine from the University of Exeter and the University of Plymouth in 2010. He performs both open and laparoscopic procedures and is JAG-certified in upper GI endoscopy. He also performs minor skin and soft tissue procedures.

He has a specialist interest in gallbladder disease, hernia surgery, and minimally invasive (keyhole) surgical techniques.

Mr Mackenzie is involved in surgical education and training, including roles as an educational and clinical supervisor, Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England, examiner at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and contributor to national surgical training selection processes. He also holds leadership roles in national surgical quality initiatives, including the “Safe Cholecystectomy” programme and the GIRFT (Getting It Right First Time) initiative at his NHS trust.
