About Dr Omar Shaikh
Dr Omar Shaikh is a Consultant Cardiologist and Electrophysiologist based at the Royal Worcester Hospital, where he has been practicing since November 2023. He specialises in the management of heart rhythm disorders, with expertise in both general cardiology and advanced electrophysiology procedures.
Dr Shaikh completed his training in general cardiology with sub-specialty focus in electrophysiology and device implantation. He has a particular interest in treating conditions such as palpitations, syncope, chest pain, hypertension, and breathlessness. He performs over 150 procedures annually, including ablation for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT), AV node ablation, and pacemaker, defibrillator, CRT, and implantable loop recorder (ILR) insertions.

As expected the experience was not pleasant due to the nature of the procedure. The whole team did a great job at putting me at ease and the looking after me post-procedure. Dr Shaikh was efficient at explaining the procedure beforehand along with the risks as well as letting me know of next steps after the procedure.
I saw Dr Shaikh regarding the option of medication to control infrequent episodes of AF. Dr Shaikh went through options and explained everything really well.
Experience was quick, efficient and everything was explained very well.
The professionalism shown and explanations given for my medical problems were 1st rate. I couldn’t be happier.
My 9:30 appointment started 20 mins late despite being the first one scheduled for the day. Explanations were clear although a little muffled for my hearing aids to pick up. Overall the feeling was to rush through the consultation once it was confirmed the condition had improved.
Very happy that this review could be done quickly over phone as would have taken much of my day for in person visit.
I felt listened to. Service was prompt. I also receive positive message from Doctor.
