About Dr Ahmed Ammar

Dr Ammar is a highly experienced Consultant Cardiologist and Heart Rhythm Specialist at Worcestershire Acute Hospitals NHS Trust and an Honorary Consultant at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire. He has extensive expertise in adult cardiology, with a particular focus on heart rhythm disorders. He completed his cardiology training at Ain Shams University Hospitals in Egypt, obtaining a Master’s degree in 2013 and a PhD in 2017, before moving to the UK in late 2017. He then undertook advanced fellowship training in electrophysiology and cardiac pacing at East Sussex NHS Trust and Barts Heart Centre, gaining full national and international accreditation in both subspecialties.

In recognition of his contributions to the field of cardiology, Dr Ammar was elected Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians in 2023 and Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology in 2024.

He manages a broad range of cardiac conditions and is a highly skilled operator in device implantation procedures—including permanent pacemakers, biventricular pacemakers, conduction system pacing, and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators—as well as catheter ablation procedures for atrial fibrillation, atrial flutter, supraventricular tachycardia, ventricular tachycardia, and premature ventricular contractions, using the latest technologies.

Clear and detailed communication throughout. Put me at ease regarding the solution of ablative surgery for my AF and gave me great confidence in the procedure. A confident consultant like Dr Ammar is very important in dispelling patient fears whilst offering proven solutions to erase patient concern after alarming cardiac issues. A very open and excellent manner and answered my questions happily. A very pleasant and friendly Dr as well.

Professional care at the highest level. Dr Ammar helped to arrange the testing required to finalise the high blood pressure diagnosis on the day of the consultation and provided his opinion the same week. This allowed me to properly manage the condition and significantly improved my health.
