Dr. Nisha Narayanan

Dr. Nisha Narayanan is a double board-certified paediatrician (American Board of Pediatrics) in both General Paediatrics and Paediatric Emergency Medicine. She has over a decade of experience in the care of infants, children, and adolescents, combining her clinical expertise with a strong background in research, teaching, and health policy.

Before relocating to Edinburgh, Dr. Narayanan served as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics and Clinical Emergency Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City — a major tertiary care academic institution, trauma centre, and burn centre — where she continues to contribute to teaching and research.

Dr. Narayanan earned her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, followed by her Doctor of Medicine (MD) from George Washington University School of Medicine, where she concentrated on Health Policy. She completed her Paediatric Residency at the University of California, Irvine – Children’s Hospital of Orange County, and went on to undertake a three-year Fellowship in Paediatric Emergency Medicine at New York University School of Medicine.

In her role at Weill Cornell Medicine, Dr. Narayanan led multidisciplinary teams treating critically ill and injured children. Alongside her clinical work, she co-founded Team Kid Power, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting paediatric cardiometabolic health in underserved communities. As Principal Investigator of a multi-site, school-based intervention project, she has helped to implement health and wellness initiatives in underfunded schools.

Her dedication to improving paediatric healthcare has earned her multiple awards, and she has co-authored over 15 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters.
