About Dr Nigel Lewis

Dr. Nigel Lewis is a Consultant Cardiologist at Thornbury Hospital and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals, specialising in heart failure, cardiac pacing and implantable devices, and inherited cardiac conditions. He graduated with an MB ChB from the University of Manchester in 2000 and went on to complete medical training in London and Sydney, Australia, before undertaking Cardiology specialist training at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Dr. Lewis completed advanced fellowships in Cardiomyopathy under Professor Elliott at The Heart Hospital, London, and in Device and Inherited Cardiac Conditions with Professor Kalman in Melbourne, Australia. His clinical expertise spans the diagnosis and management of heart failure, arrhythmias, and genetic heart disorders, as well as the use advanced cardiac imaging techniques, including echocardiography, CT coronary angiography and cardiac MRI.

With a strong academic foundation, Dr. Lewis earned a PhD from the University of Leeds in Heart Failure and Exercise Physiology, supported by a British Heart Foundation Fellowship exploring the effects of pregnancy and obesity on the cardiovascular system. In recognition of his contributions to medicine, he was elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (FRCP Edin) in 2015.

Dr Lewis was very patient. Listened to everything I had to say and explained everything clearly. He was very thorough and well prepared. He had already looked back at my medical notes and previous tests that I’d had 9 years ago, before I came into the consulting room.
