Dr Nicola Eardley

Dr Nicola Eardley is a Consultant General Surgeon and Consultant Colorectal Surgeon dedicated to providing compassionate, high-quality care to patients with complex general surgical and bowel conditions. Her clinical practice encompasses a wide array of abdominal and colorectal procedures, ranging from routine surgical interventions to specialised cancer care. Dr Eardley is committed to delivering individualised treatment plans, ensuring that every patient feels informed, supported, and reassured throughout their surgical journey.

With specialist expertise in lower gastrointestinal conditions, Dr Eardley focuses on the diagnosis and management of bowel cancer, inflammatory bowel disease, diverticular disease, and anorectal conditions such as anal fissures and haemorrhoids. She has a strong clinical interest in minimally invasive keyhole techniques, including laparoscopic and robotic surgical procedures, which help minimise recovery times and enhance patient outcomes. In addition to her elective surgical work, she maintains an active commitment to emergency general surgery and comprehensive post-operative care.

Dr Eardley graduated from the University of Liverpool Medical School in 1998 before completing her higher surgical training. Demonstrating an early commitment to advancing clinical practice, she was awarded a Royal College of Surgeons of England Research Fellowship, conducting cancer research that culminated in the award of a Doctorate of Medicine. Following her Certificate of Completion of Training in General Surgery with a specialism in Colorectal Surgery, she completed an international travelling fellowship in Canada to gain advanced specialist training in complex colorectal surgery. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and an active member of the Association of Coloproctology of Great Britain and Ireland.

Alongside her clinical practice, Dr Eardley is deeply engaged in medical education, surgical training, and clinical research. She has held key educational leadership roles, guiding medical trainees and contributing to international initiatives aimed at advancing robotic and laparoscopic surgical training. Her dedication to clinical excellence and education ensures that her patients receive evidence-based care tailored to their individual needs.
