About Miss Jennifer Darrien
Ms. Jennifer Darrien is an accomplished Consultant Bariatric Surgeon with a wealth of experience in general, laparoscopic, and upper gastrointestinal (UGI) surgery. She qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2003 and went on to receive extensive postgraduate surgical training in Scotland’s leading hospitals, including those in Edinburgh and Glasgow, focusing on both benign biliary and UGI surgery.
Since 2017, Jennifer has been exclusively associated with Phoenix Health, where she has worked as a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon. She received mentorship from Professor David Kerrigan, former president of the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS), further honing her skills in both NHS and private bariatric surgeries. Her expertise spans a range of bariatric procedures, including primary and revisional surgeries across the North-West of England, Northern Ireland, and London.
Jennifer is proficient in endo-bariatrics, including the Overstitch procedure, and has significant experience in bariatric radiology and the use of various intra-gastric balloons. She also contributes to the provision of general and UGI surgery at Nuffield Health, Chester, as well as in remote and rural regions of Scotland, including the Highlands and Islands.

I cannot recommend Miss Derrian highly enough. From my very first appointment, she was incredibly welcoming, reassuring and approachable. She took the time to explain everything to me clearly, making sure I fully understood what would be happening and what to expect throughout the process. Miss Derrian was also incredibly understanding of my situation and genuinely cared about getting things resolved for me as quickly as possible. What stood out to me, though, was that she never allowed the need for speed to come at the expense of thoroughness or the quality of my care. She made sure that everything that needed to be investigated and addressed was done properly and that I received the care and attention I needed. I always felt listened to, supported and in very safe hands. Her kindness, professionalism and genuine care made what could have been a very stressful experience so much easier. I am extremely grateful to Miss Derrian for everything she has done for me and would wholeheartedly recommend her to anyone.
Wonderful care received from Ms Darrien clear and professional interactions, and all round great experience as an inpatient at the Nuffield Chester.
