About Miss Jennifer Darrien
Ms. Jennifer Darrien is an accomplished Consultant Bariatric Surgeon with a wealth of experience in general, laparoscopic, and upper gastrointestinal (UGI) surgery. She qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2003 and went on to receive extensive postgraduate surgical training in Scotland’s leading hospitals, including those in Edinburgh and Glasgow, focusing on both benign biliary and UGI surgery.
Since 2017, Jennifer has been exclusively associated with Phoenix Health, where she has worked as a Consultant Bariatric Surgeon. She received mentorship from Professor David Kerrigan, former president of the British Obesity & Metabolic Surgery Society (BOMSS), further honing her skills in both NHS and private bariatric surgeries. Her expertise spans a range of bariatric procedures, including primary and revisional surgeries across the North-West of England, Northern Ireland, and London.
Jennifer is proficient in endo-bariatrics, including the Overstitch procedure, and has significant experience in bariatric radiology and the use of various intra-gastric balloons. Gall bladder removal went very well. I had no issues at all. Required no pain relief after the operation and recovered very quickly at home. Consultant explained everything in great detail before and after surgery. Follow up appointment was also very informative and all my questions were answered thoroughly . Hospital staff were amazing and took great care of me . Overall , an excellent service . Thank you .

Dr Darrien really listened when my daughter hadn’t really been believed for months about her symptoms. Dr Darrien offered extra tests to ensure the right medical pathway was taken and explained every step very clearly, we were really grateful as it has taken months of appointments with other doctors etc and she had been dismissed
