About Dr Neil Swanson
Neil is a consultant cardiologist in Middlesbrough. He has been an NHS consultant for over ten years. He sees cardiology patients with general cardiology problems, such as angina, heart failure, palpitations and high blood pressure.
His specialist interest is in coronary intervention. This includes angioplasty and stent treatment for angina problems, including specialised treatments such as chronic total occlusion.

Neil qualified with a Medical degree from Edinburgh Medical School, with an intercalated honours degree in Pharmacology.
He trained as a junior doctor in Scotland, the East Midlands and in New Zealand. During this time he completed a research MD degree, relating to the use of coronary stents.
He has worked in Middlesbrough since 2008 as an NHS consultant. He has a further postgraduate qualification in medical education.
