About Ms Tahira Naeem

Dr. Tahira Naeem is a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at Calderdale and Huddersfield Trust. She has a special interest in the management of recurrent miscarriages, menopause, and medical education.

Dr. Naeem graduated from Fatimah Jinnah Medical College, Pakistan in 1986 before moving to the UK to formally complete her obstetrics and gynecology training in the Yorkshire Deanery. During her training, Dr. Naeem undertook a clinical research fellowship at the IVF units of Leeds Teaching Hospitals under the supervision of Professor Adam Balen (Former Chair of The British Fertility Society) and Mr. Anthony Rutherford. On completion of her training in 2003, Dr. Naeem was appointed a Consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield Trust as well as a College Tutor for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG).

In 2007, Dr. Naeem moved with her family to the UAE, taking up the role of Consultant at Tawam Hospital Al Ain, one of the largest teaching hospitals in the UAE, dealing with high-risk obstetrics and complex gynecology. During her time at Tawam Hospital, half of her workload was at the Assisted Conception Unit. This involved infertility investigations and conducting IVF and other infertility treatments. She also provided care for high-order multiple pregnancies, which resulted in Dr. Naeem being the first obstetrician to deliver quintuplets in the UAE. Dr. Naeem was appointed as Director of Postgraduate Medical Education at Tawam Hospital, taking responsibility for the training of specialty registrars down to medical students, and formulating the first structured programme for trainee family physicians within the hospital.

Dr. Naeem returned to the UK and was reappointed as a Consultant at Calderdale and Huddersfield Trust in 2011. She currently holds the role of Deputy Training Programme Director for Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Yorkshire Deanery and is a course organizer for MRCOG (Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists) examinations. She is currently the lead clinician for the management of recurrent miscarriages in the Trust and is regularly invited to deliver lectures to local general practitioners on the topic of menopause management.

Absolutely wonderful. Very kind very clear and very helpful and the complete opposite of my experience with the 'menopause specialist' at my GP surgery. Very knowledgeable and able to answer all my questions - thankyou.

This was a telephone consultation which are not always the easiest. However Dr Naeem was wonderful. She quickly and easily established rapport. She was thorough but personable and shared relevant information. She clarified my understanding and shared decision making. She had been highly recommended to me by a close friend and i was not disappointed.

This is reflected in the way she acknowledges patients’ suffering, listens carefully, and treats them with empathy and respect. She sets very high standards in patient care and consistently leads by example. Overall, she is an excellent clinician, surgeon, and menopause specialist,...
