Mr Stephen Tai

Mr Stephen Tai is a consultant trauma and orthopaedic surgeon based in Hertfordshire. He practises at Pinehill Hospital and One Hatfield Hospital and holds an NHS consultant position at East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust at Lister Hospital in Stevenage.

He specialises in the management of adult and young adult hip and knee conditions including hip and knee arthritis, primary and revision hip replacement, knee replacement, keyhole knee surgery, trochanteric bursitis, fractures, cartilage damage and other traumatic injuries. He also provides hip and knee injections and extracorporeal shock wave therapy. His practice focuses on supporting patients in achieving recovery and returning to activity following joint replacement surgery.

He qualified in medicine in 2001 from Imperial College London and completed specialist orthopaedic training at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He obtained fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons in trauma and orthopaedics in 2012. In 2014 he completed a fellowship in lower limb reconstructive arthroplasty in Sydney and in 2015 a fellowship in complex trauma surgery in Coventry.

Mr Tai has published peer reviewed articles and contributed book chapters on hip arthroplasty and orthopaedic trauma. He has also provided orthopaedic medical advice for television productions.
