Mr Stephen Tai is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon who practices at Ramsay Pinehill Hospital and One Hatfield Hospital. He specialises in hip and knee replacement surgery, arthroscopy surgery of the knee, and the management of traumatic injuries. At his NHS hospital, Mr Tai is the trauma lead.
Mr Tai gained his medical qualification from Imperial College School of Medicine, before undergoing specialist training at the renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore. He then trained in adult hip and knee replacement surgery on a year-long fellowship with the Specialist Orthopaedic Group in Sydney, where he gained expertise in the latest arthroplasty techniques such as the direct anterior approach to the hip and computer navigated hip replacements. Mr Tai also completed a fellowship in traumatic injuries (broken bones and soft tissues injuries) at University Hospital, Walsgrave - one of the busiest major trauma centres in the United Kingdom.
Mr Tai has published a number of articles in prestigious peer-reviewed journals. He has also authored book chapters on traumatic injuries for "Orthopaedic Trauma: The Stanmore and Royal London Guide". In addition, he provides on set orthopaedic advice for BBC's "Holby City" and has even appeared briefly as an Orthopaedic Surgeon.
In his spare time, Mr Tai enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters. His hobbies include skiing, SCUBA diving, and cooking.
