Mr. Loughead is a consultant orthapaedic surgeon obtaining his medical degree from Newcastle University after completing his training in the northern region. He underwent further surgical training in complex hip and knee replacement and revision in London, Ontario.
While in Canada, he trained in the management of early adult hip problems as well as hip arthroscopy before he took up his Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon post at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.

Excellent from start to finish, fully explaining what to expect and any risks involved. At every meeting he was pleasant and approachable and I felt I could ask any type of question without being rushed. I can't thank him enough for basically 'giving me my life back ' with the two replacement hips

I have found Dr Loughead to be very attentive and professional. Through the process he has explained the alternative’s and what could happen with the op. He has explained everything clearly and has been able to answer all my questions

Full information given regarding pre and post operative care. He is open, honest, approachable and very professional, gaining full confidence of his patient. The result of my surgery was more fulfilling than I anticipated. I am now pain free, able to sit and enjoy peoples company or watching TV without squiggling to find a comfortable position. I sleep well at night without pain disturbance and feel more refreshed in the mornings. Going for a walk and fresh air is now a pleasure without fear of falls or pain onset . Standing for long periods is no longer a problem and balance is excellent due to him making my legs the same length. Mr Loughead has made me a new woman and enabled me to "Live" my life without pain and with more enthusiasm and vitality. Thank you so very much

Mr Loughead was very clear to explain the options open to me following my diagnosis. He is an excellent communicator, explaining my procedure fully and answering my questions about aftercare. In the post operation appointment he illustrated fully the work he had done and was very encouraging in his manner and advice to ensure continued improvement. An excellent experience throughout. I would not hesitate to recommend Mr Loughead to anyone needing his services.
