Been in the care of Mr Elson for approx 2 years now and this has been a very positive experience. Initially saw him for an long standing ACL injury but after investigation damage to knee was more substantial. He took his time explaining the best care path way to me and my wife. He ended up doing a two stage approach. First was to remove the damaged meniscus (serval small tears, large bucket handle tear) and perform a High Tibial Osteotomy to preserve my knee. Second stage was removal of HTO metal work and a ACL reconstruction, approx 16 months apart. 7 weeks post ACL and everything going well. At every stage Mr Elson explained everything, allowed my concerns to be shared and gave additional information when required.

Positive experience from first consultation to being discharged after total knee replacement. I was impressed with David Elson’s willingness to discuss the possibility of alternative treatments although, in my case, the problems with my knee were too advanced. The actual surgery and aftercare were clearly explained.

I would like to thank Mr David Elson for my consultation on 11th September at Newcastle Nuffield Hospital. From the beginning, he was very professional, approachable, and took the time to explain my MRI results and the possible scenarios in a way that was easy to understand. I really appreciated the thorough physical examination, as well as the clear explanation of what my current condition means for me both day-to-day and in the future. His advice about focusing on rehabilitation and muscle reconditioning gave me confidence in my recovery and helped reduce a lot of the worries I had about whether surgery was immediately necessary. What stood out the most to me was the balance of honesty and reassurance — he did not dismiss my concerns, but also made sure I left with a clear, structured plan and realistic expectations. I now feel motivated and supported in continuing physiotherapy and rebuilding strength, knowing that if needed, there are further options in the future. I would highly recommend Mr Elson to anyone in a similar situation, and I am grateful for his expertise and the time he dedicated to my care.

I first met David March 2025 , with severe pain in the right knee . Following our initial consultation , X-rays were taken and within 20 mins David was discussing next steps . I opted for a FKR Full Knee Replacement , every step was explained to me in great detail , but in a manner that was to the point with honesty and integrity. The surgery went fine , again David explained everything to me on being discharged to go home . We met again 6 weeks after the operation to view my progress , again David and I had a great 20 minute conversation . I can’t thank David enough for his approach , with a down to earth attitude and approach to the surgery and follow up consultations . Would recommend David to anyone Regards Michael M.

Having had a knee replacement 6 weeks ago, I was concerned about the slow recovery eg on going pain & stiffness despite following the exercises recommended. David assured me this was the norm & over time I should expect gradual improvement. He was clearly happy with the knee & patiently explained everything I needed to know
