Mr Wisam J Muen

Mr Wisam Muen is an award-winning Consultant Ophthalmologist and highly experienced Laser Refractive and Lens Surgeon. With nearly 20 years of experience and over 5,000 eye surgeries performed, he is widely regarded for his skill, precision, and commitment to patient care. He currently practices at the Royal Eye Unit, Kingston NHS Trust, alongside his private practice.

Mr Muen graduated in Medicine from the University of Manchester in 1997 before completing general surgical training and later specialising in ophthalmology. His career has spanned leading hospitals in Liverpool, Scotland, Cambridge, and London, where he gained advanced expertise in corneal disease management and laser eye surgery. Remarkably, he is among the very few surgeons to hold dual accreditation, having also completed specialist training in complex children’s eye diseases.

His dedication to education and research is reflected in his role as a Royal College of Ophthalmologists Tutor at the Royal Eye Unit, where he trains junior doctors. He has published widely in international peer-reviewed journals and is a member of several professional societies, including the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.

Outside of medicine, Mr Muen enjoys cycling, trekking, and racquet sports.
